Create!

Happy Monday everyone! It's Moni here, looking after the blog for this week. 28 days has February, how exciting! I said goodbye to the month this weekend in a really fun way.  Like I said on my last post, I want to bring you something special to every part of the house and today, as an idea I was given this weekend, I want to focus on the dining area.
Food and eating are a very important part of our lives and even though we don't have much time now a days there is nothing better than a nice banquet. In order to do that you need a nice set of plates, china or however you want to call it.  It's hard to chose one and it's usually quite expensive.
I went pottery painting this weekend and my friend said how cool it would be if for a wedding present you invited all your friends out for a pottery painting day and have them paint you a unique set.
I found just the place to do this.
Create Cafe is a lovely little place hidden in the heart of Ilkley.  At the top of a beautiful arcade, this little cafe is the best place to spend a lovely artsy afternoon with a nice coffee and lots of creative atmosphere. Divided into 2 sections, pottery and knitting, this is an ideal place to have a birthday party, take your kids or even have a girly hen party. You should definitely visit them! Why don't  you check out their website first.
There you go, next weekend's plans, sorted! have fun, Love Moni!

Quilt Solution

Hello Everyone!

As you know I'll be looking after the blog  until the end of next week and I thought, why not use each day to focus on one room of the house.  This Thursday I would like to talk to you about bedrooms.  How lovely is it to put a new duvet cover on.  Clean sheets, that gorgeous cool feeling like you're getting into bed for the very first time. I love it!  What I don't love is that every time I do change my sheets I end up wanting to also totally change my room decor.  I don't know how all of you do it, do you have a colour coordinated room-duvet cover agreement?  I don't, I can't, prints rule my life and most of my house looks like a baroque collection at spring.
So I figured the one solution to all of this is a quilt!  I know it's not a big discovery but there are some amazing ones out there that should solve all of our problems to stick to one happy room decor.  Today I would like to show you some beautiful examples courtesy of one of the prettiest shops around, Anthropologie.  If you don't know it yet,  Anthropologie is a brand from the United States, they opened a store a couple of years ago in London and it's definitely worth finding because it is a beautiful place to look at and buy.
Here are some of the super cute quilts for sale there.  Why don't you check out their website as well?  Have a great weekend! Love Moni.

Teaching!

Just a quick little update...

I'm pretty booked up with freelancing, lectures & workshops during the next two weeks so the lovely Moni will be looking after the blog:) I know you all enjoy her posts & I know she has some great inspiration to share too! so please keep an eye out for the new posts.

See you in two weeks! :D

Yummy House Stuff!

I'm OBSESSED with house stuff!!! I just can't get enough of it:) I seem to get more excited lately about buying house things & decorating than I do shopping for clothes. So on Sunday I popped down to my local Marks & Spencer home store to have a nosey at some of the spring collections. I was really wowed by the amount of gorgeous new cushions they had in. Some I thought were slightly more edgy for M&S in particular the quirky monochrome dog cushion thought this was really funky & on trend.

I also loved all of the craft inspired pieces, there was a lovely folk inspired theme running throughout the range also. Along with lots of hand applied styles & finishes; beautiful needlework, applique & innovative large flower shaped cushion attachments. I felt really inspired from my visit! so it's well checking out their new range, I've got my eye on a few pieces for the new studio :)

Too much yummy stuff!

I ordered some fab new buttons recently, I'm a bit button mad I have TONS of them but I just find them really yummy to look at. I also use lots of lovely buttons to decorate my products too... so any excuse to buy more!

I took some pretty pics of some of the buttons mixed together & the beautiful colour palettes they made.

Mother's Day!

Happy Friday everyone:)

Mother's day is fast approaching but there's still a good month or so yet so no panicking! I recently received some samples from the talented team at Tigerprint. I designed this typography card last year so it was really lovely to see the finish sample:) The cards are available to buy in store at Marks & Spencer.

Yoyo Ceramics

Buenos Dias! This looks like the start of a great Thursday.

I love home decorations, specially everyday appliances with original shapes and designs. They are the sorts of things that you can't really resist.

Today I would like to introduce Yoyo Ceramics.  They are a UK company, led by designer Helen Johannessen.
It specializes in making beautiful and clever designs translated into ceramics. I love how they give us a chance to have super cute stuff in every corner of our home.

Have a look at their website and inspire yourself. Lovely right?  See you next week, Love Moni.

I need your help...

Hello lovely blog followers:) I need your help... I'm doing a charity skydive on the weekend of the 5th of March. I'm trying to raise as much as I can... If you can possibly donate just a tiny amount it would really help the cause. I'm a wimp! so your support will cheer me on to go through with it:)

Even just 50 pence! if a lot of people just donated that amount  it really would generate a lot of money.

You can donate online via my just giving page http://www.justgiving.com/rachaeltaylordesigns. I'm raising money for SKCIN - The Karen Clifford skin cancer charity to help support the wonderful work they do.

Any donations no matter how big or small are really appreciated x

(I promise to post pics on the blog!)

Vintage Fair- Leeds Town Hall

So on Sunday morning, I went to the Leeds vintage fair held in the beautiful main hall of Leeds town hall. It was a great fair, a lot bigger than I expected & it was a lovely setting too. I went with the lovely Amy from landofthecuckoo (that's the blog she runs, I don't mean she's in cuckoo land!) & we had a lovely morning mooching around & finding bargains! I took lots of pics of the pretty ceiling in the main hall too. It was a great day out:)

For more information about future events you can visit the leedsvintagefashionfairs website.

Above is one of the pieces I bought on the day, a cute little shabby chic chair to use as a photo prop & as a decoration in my new studio
(It's actually a kid's chair, but I'm going to put a plant pot on it)
