MOYO Issue 5 is here / / The Anniversary Special!

MOYO Magazine is one year old, and we are celebrating with our biggest ever issue: Issue 5 - the Anniversary Special! Since we first dreamt up the concept when on a plane back from a trade show in Paris, we have loved developing, designing and publishing our very own online magazine dedicated to surface pattern design. We are hugely grateful to all our contributors, and to all our readers (over one million views in our first year!), and hope that you continue to find MOYO inspiring and valuable. Every issue we pack in a wide variety of content, from industry interviews and advice through to design briefs and trend information. And in this bumper 100+ page Anniversary Special we have really gone to town. Inside Issue 5 (which is completely free) you can find:

  • An exclusive interview with internationally acclaimed designer Clarissa Hulse
  • Insight into greetings from industry giant Hallmark
  • A DIY Celebration guide (make your party personal!)
  • The UKTI Guide to Exporting
  • Unveiling of our brand new directory site the MOYO Directory!

PLUS: A sneak peek behind the scenes at our weddings!

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Today I wanted to share with you a selection of images from my inspiring trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. I met up with a creative friend & we had such a lovely relaxing day out. Words can't describe how amazing this place is. To find beautiful art & sculptures dotted around & weaved in between picturesque scenery is just unbelievable. I only had the morning free so we only covered a small fraction of the outdoor park (it's a huge place!). I hope to visit again soon to see more of the captivating views.

The park & galleries are actually FREE! It really is a hidden gem.

Love Rachael x

Have you visited any interesting exhibitions or parks recently? Please leave your comments below, we love to hear from you.

Beauty Breakdown / / Marc Jacobs Fragrances

Good morning creative people! Welcome to a Beauty morning with me, MaJo :) Every Thursday I'll delight you with gorgeously packed beauty products (and every now and then, I'll even throw you a beauty secret).

If I weren't 'intolerant' to fragrances (I get terrible headaches), I would wear perfume. I actually wish I could… I'd like to have my own perfume style like most women do, hehehe. It would also be nice so I could have an actual excuse to buy gorgeous perfume bottles (instead of just wanting to buy them because they are so pretty!)

I'm a Marc Jacobs fan! He's among my favourite designers not only for his own brands (Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs), but also for the gorgeous designs he creates as Louis Vuitton Creative Director. His work is filled with humour, and that's what I love the most about it. Every time I take a look at one of his perfumes, I smile. Their packaging is so whimsical and happy; they really invite you to spray a bit on every morning for a fresh and perfumed new day (plus there's one for every mood and style). Please enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read. See you next week with more inspiring designs. Have a great day, MaJo.

Creative Review / / Viv Sliwka

I am thrilled to be able to share some inspirational art and design with you every Tuesday morning as Rachael's 'Art and Creative Writer'. This week, we're featuring the hand made art and accessories of Viv Sliwka.

Viv is a Shropshire (U.K.) based designer/maker inspired by American primitive art who loves collecting and repurposing vintage textiles, ephemera and haberdashery. She collages, appliqués and embroiders her work by hand to create one-off pieces of art and usable accessories including brooches, purses and bags which she sells online under the business name, Hen's Teeth.

Viv also teaches others how to create their own upcycled artefacts including wrist cuffs and keepsake boxes at workshops she runs at Weston Park. With my birthday coming up, I'll be adding one of these lovelies to my wish list and hope to get along to one of Viv's events soon. More gorgeousness next week! Justine x
