Artist Review: Jennis Li Cheng Tien

I am thrilled to be able to share some inspirational art with you every Tuesday morning as Rachael's new 'Art and Creative Writer'. This week, we're featuring the digital art of Jennis Li Cheng Tien

Based in Berlin, Taiwanese model and artist Jennis Li Cheng Tien studied Interactive Media Design in Singapore, before moving to Germany in 2008. In 2010 she received her MFA in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies at the Bauhaus University of Weimar.

Known for her ability to digitally create vibrant and varied portraits, her work involves the reprocessing of random images found on the internet with digital manipulation, to create mysterious blurred creations. Jennis has been working on the ongoing series 'Have a Nice Day' since August 2010 - a fusion of the artists love of contemporary fashion and paintings.

Below is a selection of her beautiful abstract portraits. I love the use of neon in these eye catching colour combinations, which you can see more of on her website. Have a great week, Justine x

Stockholm - Monki!

Whilst in Stockholm I was introduced to an AMAZING new high street store called Monki (thank you Tessa!) The shop itself is just beautiful & uniquely styled. I could have bought every item in there (if my luggage allowance had let me!)

"Our stores are walk-in closets filled with treasures! To step into one of them is to step into a part of the Monki World: the strange Forgotten Forest, the bio-hazardous City of Oil and Steel or the magical Sea of Scallops".

Monki is a Swedish brand but I was actually told that they have stores in London too! (YAY!) Everything about their brand is stunning & visually appealing. Even their website graphics are innovative & adorned with beautiful illustrations. They also have a super uber cool magazine, you can read the current & past issues here.

"Monki is both a way of doing life and doing fashion. Monki is a store concept and a fashion brand. The stores are a part of a Monki world that constantly tells new stories. The clothes have a style that represents personality and independence, an alternative that’s full of dreams".

They are my new favourite brand & Swedish obsession! To shop Monki online click here.

I bought the chunky knit scarf (featured above).

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters have some new crazy prints this season amongst dresses, tops, shorts & leggings. There are a variety of prints including animal, tribe, florals, damask the list is endless. I love the combination of animal & damask print on the dress in image 3 particularly the colours, there is also a little bit of lace detail on the top too. Enjoy, Hannah
