Recently the lovely Angela Bee, "an enthusiastic cook" who set up the food lovers blog 'Dishes Undressed', which aims to "teach people how you can rustle up a simple, healthy dish in minutes" featured my 'Etched Floral' pink oven mitt as part of a 'Kitchen Crushes' article! Asian food

Happy Monday folks!

Something a bit different for you today in the form of vegetarian Asian food! The colour, textures and of course the taste of Indian food is fantastic, and so culturally inspiring. I had a go at making some classic Gujurati (West Indian) recipes taken from the lovely Hansa Dabhi's cookbook which can be bought on Amazon. There are some stunningly vivid colours that can be taken from the ingredients and the recipes as inpsiration as well as the textures such as the stripes running along the ginger and garlic or the veins of the fresh coriander.

Sunshine Bakery

Cupcakes!  Petite, pretty, colourful, sweet.  These little bits of joy have become a favourite within the pattern industry lately, we can see them in clothes, accessories, photographs, but if you think back, when was the last time you actually had one?  I don't know about you but I don't often eat cupcakes, they are lovely to look at but usually too big and extra sweet.
Well last week I came across to an absolutely lovely bakery that changed my mind.  Sunshine Bakery is located at Chapel Allerton in Leeds and headed by David Bennett.  It is a charming little place that resembles a French Patisserie with quirky non matching dinnerware and a soulful atmosphere.  Voted as the Best Cupcake in Britain, you won't be disappointed, it is a splendid place for a coffee and cake or lunch.  So add it to your to-do list and if you don't live around, an amazing cupcake will surely be the perfect excuse to visit. She's Leaving Home

Happy Thursday!  I always love being on the lookout for interesting books with beautiful illustrations and a fun different twist on them.  This week I found the gorgeous She's Leaving Home by Australia's celebrity Monica Trapaga. It is basically a cookery book for mothers to give their daughters when they are leaving home.  I'm not a mother and I left home a while ago so I'm not exactly the target audience, but this lovely book is much more than just that. With stunning illustrations by Meredith Gaston, this little gem of a book is a picturesque journey through the essentials of cooking.  I love the way it is broken down and how it creates a sort of nostalgia through each page.  I think it would be a lovely gift to give someone as their first cooking book.
