Artist Review: Ben Giles

I am thrilled to be able to share some inspirational art with you every Tuesday morning as Rachael's new 'Art and Creative Writer'. This week, we're showcasing an emerging new talent, Ben Giles.

Born in Suffolk, England, Ben is a 20 year old fine art student with an exciting mixed media approach including video, photography, drawing and painting. He has a surreal way of juxtaposing motifs, often repurposing vintage photos into multi-coloured collages.

I can't claim the credit for discovering his work, that goes to my 14 year old daughter who is a big fan of the super-cool 'Rookie Yearbook' by Tavi Gevison, which has featured some of the images created by Ben below.

The TV advert is now live (from the 27th of Feb) & will be aired for 3 weeks on channels 4 & 5! You spot my oven mitts a fair few times in the advert so I'm super happy & honoured to be showcased.

The Animation Workshop

Hello everyone! For a little change, today I want to share with you this amazing video. It's called Ride of Passage and it was created by The Animation Workshop, an animation school in Denmark. Directed by Christian Boeving-Andersen this is the extremely adorable story of young Toki and his adventure in the jungle. It has got amazing visuals, bright colours and beautiful animation.
