ABSPD Alumni / / Mel Smith

So many of our ABSPD Alumni have been up to great & exciting things & we love sharing their fantastic news! In the run up to the next series of M2 of the e-course we will be sharing some of our alumni successes! Which you can also see more of in our Success Stories Facebook album!

Mel Smith is another of our very successful alumni! Having spent a few years freelancing & working in  a small greetings card company, Mel is now working on her own projects. Her designs have been sold in John Lewis & several other stores nationwide. She is currently running a Kickstarter project to raise money to create an eco-friendly, patterned notebook collection. She is also attending Top Drawer/Home 2014 where she plans to fully launch her brand 'Mel Smith Designs' with a selection of lampshades, cushions, kitchen textiles as well as her notebooks.

She has also recently launched a licensed collection with Keka Cases & has designed cute wedding stationery for a friend.

HOME London 2013!

Following on from our success at Top Drawer. We are super excited to announce that we are exhibiting at the HOME show in London this January, what a great way to kick start 2013! Katie Leamon Design

Happy typography Friday!
Absolutely GORGEOUS typography to share with you today from the wonderfully talented Katie Leamon. Katie is a surface designer & illustrator based in London 'with a love of drawing and typography along with great ambition and a desire to create beautiful things'. Katie draws her inspiration from traditional nursery rhymes, fables & fairytales, using a monochromatic palette she makes a traditional subject matter accessible to the contemporary customer. We love her natural talent for typography & we're so glad to have found her work exhibited at Top Drawer in September! Below you can see a selection of general greeting cards & Christmas cards. You can find more of her design work on her beautiful website!

Animal magic!

When we exhibited at Top Drawer a few weeks ago a big trend for the show was animal motifs ranging from dogs & cats to stags! Even Rachael has recently drawn some gorgeous animals on her new licensed illustration range! (See below). Animal motifs are clearly a big trend for the 2012 Autumn/Winter season!

Designer Charity Doodle Wall! - Day 3!

The 'Designer Charity Doodle Wall' live event was a huge success at Top Drawer London 2012! On day 3 we had the wonderful designers Jess Williams, Tamsin Seed, Louise Tiler & Robyn Taylor doodling for charity & they illustrated the wall beautifully.
