Su Blackwell

You know how when you spot something you like, you suddenly start seeing it everywhere you go? Last year I discovered and fell in love with paper sculptures made with old books and since then I have been finding the most amazing "paper artists".
Today I would like to introduce Su Blackwell. This artist/art director works mainly with paper and i have to say I am completely mesmerised by her work. The amazing scenes and stories that flow out of old books have such a magical and beautiful feel to them, they are true works of art. Inspired mainly by fairytales, Su's work is unbelievably unique. Paper Blossoms

Hey Everyone! Another one of the best parts of New York City is the shopping. I loved my trip to the MoMA (Museum Of Modern Art)! I love being surrounded by creativity and such iconic art. I also love the shop at the museum. So many innovative things with beautiful design. I got the most amazing book there which now sits on my dining room table for everlasting spring inside my home. Not only is it cleverly done, its a beautiful idea. Paper Blossoms by Marshall is one of the many masterpieces by Chronicle Books. Here are a few photos! Love Moni!

 

Kyleigh's Papercuts

Meet Kyleigh Orlebar, creator of Kyleigh's Papercuts. This graphic designer has a unique way of turning favourite lyrics, messages or thoughts into lovely art.
Hand or laser cut she shapes the paper into a lovely and usually happy piece which would give an ideal mood to a room and would make a brilliant present.

Katie Heeks Designs

A couple of weeks ago, Rachael and I visited the gorgeous Hebden Bridge.  Its a girly girl town full of lovely shops and yummy cafes.  While we were at the Heart Gallery birthday celebration I spotted the wonderful work of Katie Heeks.
Katie is a designer-maker who creates colourful and magical 3D pictures by using laser cutting.
Inspired by nature, her gardens are full of patterns and shapes that creates a beautiful layered picture.  She sometimes has lights installed to them which gives you the chance of having your own little magical world inside this beautiful frame.  I love the rainforest theme, the mixture of the colours shapes and sizes added to the different layers make it wild and amazing.

TerrorDome

Hey Everyone!  I have a secret love of maps and love collecting things with them on,a shower curtain, drawer liners and scratch map wall art are some of the map related objects decorating my home.  I guess it all comes from a love of the world.  Last week I found a fantastic artist from Bristol called Emma who does some gorgeous and extremely cute 3D work using maps, places and shapes.
I fell in love with a framed piece of boy and a girl shapes made out of a map.  I love the simplicity of her work and how each object can represent a place and a person.

Oh Golly Gosh

Hello all!  It's Thursday again and I have some more lovely inspiration from the super talented exhibitors of the BCTF 2011.

Today I'd like to introduce the fun and refreshing textile pieces of Oh Golly Gosh.

Created by Elaine Hughes these  beautiful collages create fantastic scenes from colourful and quirky worlds.

Using paper, textiles, illustrations and several other surfaces and materials, Oh Golly Gosh's creations give character and charm to any room.

Elsita!

If there is something nice about the internet, it is to stumble upon interesting artists and even better, interesting people who make art.
I came across Elsa Mora's Papercuts while just browsing for inspiration.  As I went into her blog, I found a fantastic story and a very fun story teller.
In a few words, Elsa or Elsita is a Cuban artist based in Los Angeles.  She's had an interesting life and has a lovely outlook on life.  I would rather she would tell you herself, so visit her blog and have a look at some of her other creations, make sure you check out her flower people.
