Artist Review: Yellena James

I am thrilled to be able to share some inspirational art with you every Tuesday morning as Rachael's new 'Art and Creative Writer'. This week, we're feasting our eyes upon the luscious work of talented artist, Yellena James.

Yellena grew up and attended art school in Sarajevo, Bosnia, before moving to the U.S. when she was 18. She gained a degree in Painting and Graphic Design before later settling in Portland, Oregon.

Her favourite media include acrylics, pens, inks and markers, which she uses to create intricate and fantastical compositions which although sometimes appearing organic, also possess a super-natural, otherworldly quality. She aims "to create an ethereal place which is hypnotically familiar and yet hauntingly exotic, adding tiny little details in a sort of compulsive meditation, until a perfect balance is created." Yellena has a gorgeous website with details of her projects and exhibitions which also links to her Etsy store.

It's easy to loose yourself in these mesmerising images. I'll have even more beautiful art to share with you next Tuesday, have an inspiring day! Justine x
